Ballot Measures
Propositions on the August 2026 Primary ballot
Spokane County Democrats endorses these measures. Vote YES to support our communities.
Spokane County Library District - Proposition 1
This proposition asks to restore the regular property tax levy rate that funds the present level of services and materials provided by SCLD, and meet the demand for services and materials in the future. Passage impacts Airway Heights, Argonne, Cheney, Deer Park, Fairfield, Medical Lake, Moran Prairie, North Spokane, Otis Orchards, and Spokane Valley Libraries, as well as SCLD Mobile Services.
This funding will support:
learning opportunities that focus on personal finance, work-ready skill sets, and small business support
educational and entertainment programs for children, families, and older communities
connecting people to services and resources
more e-resources: eBooks, downloadable audiobooks, streaming movies and music, and online learning resources
Rejection would mean SCLD will reduce literacy programs; acquire fewer digital resources; reduce library hours, materials, and personnel; reduce mobile services to rural communities; and will require the eventual closure of one or more libraries.

Spokane Transit Authority - Proposition 1
Maintain today’s transit - Support tomorrow’s growth
This proposition asks voters in Spokane County’s transit service area to renew (not increase) the existing 0.2% local sales tax that supports public transit, continuing the current voter-approved rate through 2048 without increasing it.
This is YES for Buses, supporting communities and businesses, with new stations, upgrades and a wider service area.
2025 saw STA’s highest ridership in over a decade, surpassing 10.9 million rides across fixed-route, paratransit, and rideshare. Vote “Yes” and maintain the momentum.
