All too often, our brave veterans come home from military service only to find it very difficult to get a job.

In fact, more than 21% of our young veterans who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan are unemployed.

We've got to do something about this. That's why, on Tuesday, I introduced the Veterans Employment Act in the Senate -- and I hope you'll help me get it passed.

Our nation's veterans and their families have sacrificed so much for all of us. The least we can do is make sure there are jobs waiting for them when they return.

After all, these are disciplined, dedicated individuals who will be great employees -- they just need help translating their skills into civilian careers.

We can't continue to just pat our veterans on the back for their service and then push them out into the job market alone.

My new bill, supported by Democratic and Republican Senate colleagues alike, would do two primary things:

Expand job training, placement services, and entrepreneurship opportunities for veterans who may fall through the cracks of existing programs.
Make sure that current job assistance programs work better for veterans.
These are common-sense solutions, and I hope that they will be widely supported in Congress.

But we can't take anything for granted in Washington, D.C. these days, so I hope you'll help me get this important bill passed.
