The “Politics Of Possibility” event reminds Spokane of common values, priorities, and shared accomplishments during Marr’s first term
SPOKANE— State Senator Chris Marr, a 26 year Spokane resident, and longtime business owner, kicked off his campaign for re-election today with more than300 gathering for breakfast at the Davenport Hotel. Marr, a former Chamber of Commerce President and Chair of the Deaconess Hospital Board, has focused on improving Spokane’s business climate, promoting job growth and protecting funding for Spokane Schools during his first term in Olympia.

This focus on local leadership and priorities was on display today, with speakers touting his accomplishments in delivering for the North South Corridor highway project, the Riverpoint Medical Campus, local small businesses such as Dry Fly Distilling, and many more.

“Chris is a proven local leader who knows our community well, and fights for our fair share in Olympia,” said Allen Battle. “He understands that a great economy is built on effective, independent leadership, not hollow partisan promises.”

In addition to the themes of uniting around economic development and job creation, Marr touched on other Spokane area accomplishments, including job protection and assistance for returning military men and women, funding for Spokane Schools, and safety improvements to highway 19 and other regional roads.
“The challenges that face our families aren’t Republican or Democratic in nature—they are shared by all of us and deserve focused, responsive leadership,” said Marr. “I was elected to represent and fight for all of Spokane, and that’s what I‘m doing. My voting record is stubbornly independent, just like a lot of the people I serve.”
Marr hopes to continue working on transportation, expansion of health care jobs and training, and economic development in a second, four year term.
“We aren’t going to diversify and strengthen our economy with partisan sound bites,” said Marr. “We are going to do it with continued cooperation and teamwork—all of us in Spokane are translating local knowledge to local results, and working together to get things done.”
